We've seen a lot of confusion and questions about what is considered grief-play and when it is appropriate to report another player for ruining your experience.
Generally we judge all reports we receive on a case by case basis, so there is no perfect description of an ideal grief-play case.
But what exactly is grief-play?
Grief-play in Massively Multi-player Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) refers to play styles where a player intentionally disrupts the gaming experience of other players.
Ideally we would appreciate a 5+ minute video in order for us to grasp the situation - if we can't get a clear picture of what's going on, we will not be able to assist you.
We have compiled examples of a situation that could be worth telling us about in a ticket.
- If a user keeps chasing you specifically around in the map continuing hitting the mobs you hit.
- If you hit mobs and gather them up in a lure and another user keeps hitting the mob-lure to ruin it and even kill it multiple times. (IC and LoD excluded)
- If you change channel and the other user(s) follow you to that channel and continue their actions against you.
- If another user lures several mobs to you in a map with the intention to kill you. (IC and LoD excluded)
- Party spam invite (and everything similar) in order to block you from moving leading to your possible death.
To sum it up we require a clear video showing the situation and the intention. Keep in mind that we (the team) will judge if what was done and shown in the video is considered as grief-play.
Notes:
- There is no map ownership, there can be 50 people in 1 map hitting different mobs.
- Being AFK or just present in a map does not make the map or the mobs yours.
- While as mentioned in the examples if someone attacks your mobs is something that may help us determine the intention of the user bothering you, keep in mind that we do not recognize mob ownership, if you hit a mob and then leave it or someone hits what you hit a couple of times it could be an easy and clear accident and we will not take actions against that. (If for example the map is busy and full of people etc.)
- You will only report such cases to us through the ticket system.
- If you upload the video-evidence, tag the video/s as unlisted (for example in Youtube) and give us the link in the ticket, our goal here is not to shame other players over on the web.
